NAP01 - POMPEII (approximate 4 hours) - 2011
Leave the port and drive towards Pompeii, a town completely destroyed during the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The excursion includes a guided walking tour of this large archaeological site which has been perfectly preserved under a layer of volcanic ash. You will admire some of the preserved shops, ancient temples and rich noble houses. We will be visiting the coral factory on the way back to the port.
Note: this excursion includes long walking on uneven ground ; there are big slabs of stone in the streets of Pompeii so this tour is not suggested to Guests with mobility problems or in a wheelchair.

NAP02 - NAPLES HISTORIC CENTRE (approximate 4 hours) - 2011 
Depart from the port to the famous Posillipo district situated high on a hill and which we will reach by driving through the most important and attractive streets of Naples. The excursion continues with visits to the famous Principe Umberto I's Gallery, San Carlo Theatre and Piazza Plebiscito. Short amount of free time for shopping and to visit of the San Lorenzo Church tucked in the historic centre of the ancient Graeco-Roman city. Return to the port.
Note: the tour involves a long walking tour. The visit to the church is subject to the Bishops approval and the programme will be reconfirmed onboard.

NAP03 - CAPRI ISLAND TOUR (approximate 5 hours) - 2011
Transfer by ferry or hydrofoil to the beautiful Marina Grande in Capri from where you will board a minibus to reach Capri centre. We will tour the island in small, public minivans and you will have free time to explore the charming streets that surround the famous Piazzetta Umberto I. There is also a visit to the splendid villa San Michele which belonged to the Swedish psychiatrist Axel Munthe and which is built on the ruins of a Roman villa.
Note: the transfer may be carried out by public or private hydrofoil / catamaran. This excursion is not foreseen during the months from November to February (included).

NAP04 - EXCURSION TO VESUVIUS (approximate 4 hours) - 2011 Drive to the imposing Mount Vesuvius which dominates the Bay of Naples and is one of the symbols of the town. Enjoy a guided walking tour from the eruptive dent to the crater where you can admire the bed of lava and look out over the beautiful Gulf of Naples.
Note: it is suggested to wear comfortable walking shoes for 30 minutes climbing up to the crater. The excursion can be cancelled due to bad weather conditions on the day of call.

NAP05 - THE ROYAL PALACE OF CASERTA (approximate 4 hours) - 2011 
A 45-minute bus transfer will take you to Caserta to visit the magnificent Royal Palace, built by Carlo III of Bourbon, one of the Bourbon kings of Naples. Modelled on the Palace of Versailles, this spectactular baroque masterpiece is one of the finest examples of architecture from the Borbonic period. We will look around the opulent rooms and have time at leisure in the extensive park before returning to the ship.
Note: this excursion is not foreseen on falls calling on Tuesday. There are some steps inside the Palace.

NAP07 - SORRENTO (approximate 4,5 hours) - 2011 One of the pearls of the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento is surrounded by limestone hills, where olive trees and citrus groves show off a quintessential Italian landscape to all those who visit this delightful town. We will leave the port of Naples and reach Sorrento after a one-hour drive that takes us through the little villages of the coast. Our walking tour will start in Piazza Tasso and continue in the historic narrow streets of this unique town. We will walk to the Sedil Dominova, before visiting the Cathedral and San Francesco's Church, home to a charming cloister and gardens that offer a wonderful view over the Marina Grande harbour. Free time before returning to Naples.
Note: this is a walking tour and is not advised to Guests experiencing mobility problems. The bus ride to Sorrento is about one hour each way.
